Moose clash with Condors tonight

The Manitoba Moose (1-1-0-1) look to pick up their first win on home ice Thursday night, as they host the Bakersfield Condors (1-0-0-0) in the second of a two-game set at MTS Centre.

Revenge will be on the minds of the Manitoba Moose as Bakersfield managed to grab a 4-1 win and steal the show in Manitoba’s home opener on Tuesday evening. Manitoba’s only marker came late in the first period with the man advantage when Scott Kosmachuk finished off a beautiful between the legs feed from Marko Dano.

While the Moose scored a goal for the highlight reels, the Condors were the ones filling the airtime. Bakersfield forward Jujhar Khaira potted two goals including a powerplay marker with 1:01 left in the second period. Khaira wasn’t the only Condor to find the scoresheet a couple times, Taylor Beck registered two assists.

Last season’s Manitoba Moose Rookie of the Year, Chase De Leo, was back in a familiar positon on Tuesday night. He registered his first point of the season with an assist on Kosmachuk’s powerplay goal. In his rookie campaign with Manitoba, De Leo managed 40 points (19 G 21A) in 73 games with the AHL club.

So far in this young season, Eric Comrie has made two starts between the pipes. The Edmonton, AB product is boasting a 2.01 GAA with a .934 SV%. On Thursday night, Comrie faced 33 shots including 13 in the opening period. On the flip side, Manitoba fired 10 shots on Condors netminder Nick Ellis in the games final frame.

Last season was the first time the Moose and Condors matched up, with Bakersfield entering the league. Manitoba posted a 1-3-0-0 record against the Condors with their only win coming on Nov. 22 at the MTS Centre. During their four games head-to-head last season, both Scott Kosmachuk (3G, 1A) and Nic Petan (4A) came away with four points.
