The Manitoba Moose (2-2-0-1) head into Sunday’s matinee matchup with the Toronto Marlies (3-1-0-0) looking for revenge after Manitoba fell 4-2 to the Baby Buds on Saturday (Oct. 22).

Despite Manitoba’s two powerplay goals from Nic Petan and Kevin Czuczman, Marlies forward Byron Froese put two markers past Eric Comrie, including the game winner 13:27 into the second period.

Good Vibes

While Manitoba came away with a loss on Saturday, there are positives for the Moose to take into Sunday’s matchup. The Moose have found the back of the net in three straight games on the man advantage giving them the second best powerplay percentage in the Central Division, operating at 20 per cent. Along with the efficient powerplay, both Jack Roslovic and team captain Patrice Cormier added to their season shot totals with five each on Saturday afternoon.

Young Guns

A few Moose forwards head into Sunday’s game looking to extend point streaks as Roslovic recorded two assists in Saturday’s game and now has four points in his last two games. Nic Petan also recorded a powerplay strike giving him two goals in as many games

Speaking of young scoring talent, Manitoba will look to contain Winnipeg’s own and Marlies’ forward Brendan Leipsic in Sunday’s game. The 22-year-old potted one goal for the Marlies on Saturday giving him two goals on the year and is one point back of the league scoring lead with seven (2G, 5A).

Looking Ahead

After Sunday’s game the Moose have four days to rest up and practice as they get ready for a back-to-back series on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 28,29) against the San Diego Gulls at the MTS Centre. Make sure to listen live to the broadcast with Mitch Peacock at Moosehockey.com/listenlive.
