Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (24-32-4-5) brought their season series against the Rockford IceHogs (22-31-9-3) to a close at MTS Centre on Saturday night.  Ryan Olsen broke the ice 13:43 into the contest.  Olsen created a turnover below the goal-line before beating Jeff Glass back to the near post for his sixth goal of the season. The goal left Manitoba with a 1-0 lead after the first.

The Moose built on their lead in the second.  Dan DeSalvo made it 2-0 on a great tip, redirecting Jan Kostalek’s shot from the ice to the top part of the net 4:03 into the period.  Jack Roslovic got his 12th of the season when he had time to pick the corner over Glass’ shoulder for the 3-0 goal at 12:47.  Rockford got one back with parts of a second remaining in the second off the stick of Luke Johnson to leave the score 3-1 after two.

Kyle Connor helped the hosts put Rockford in the rear-view mirror for good. Connor became the first player to tally 20 goals since the Moose returned to Winnipeg with a blistering wrister from the faceoff circle 59 seconds into the third.  Just over a minute later, with the Moose on a two-man advantage, Connor found room to bury his second of the period to put the Moose in front 5-1.  Rockford didn’t go quietly as Jake Dowell and Tyler Motte each scored before the end of the contest to pull the IceHogs back within two.  That was as close as the visitors would come as the Moose skated away with the 5-3 win

Quotable
Head Coach Pascal Vincent – “I liked the pace.  I thought we were playing fast.  We were moving the puck fast, we were moving our feet, playing a simple game, playing North-South, good on the forecheck and getting pucks back.  We did a lot of good things.”

Defenceman Jake Kulevich on playing his first AHL game – “Definitely memorable.  It was great.  Great crowd.  The guys were going.  It’s obviously huge to get a win in the first game.  I felt good out there.  It was a lot of fun and definitely one I’ll remember.”
