Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (39-23-4-4) hosted the Toronto Marlies (49-18-1-1) in an all-Canadian matchup. The Moose got the scoring started with a power play goal at 8:37 when Sami Niku slipped a no-look shot past Calvin Pickard. The Moose nearly got to the break with the one-goal edge, but Dmytro Timashov tied the contest with a rocket from the slot on the power play with six seconds remaining in the frame. The Moose outshot the Marlies by an 11-6 margin, but went into the intermission tied 1-1.
The special teams continued to play a factor in the second period. With the Marlies on the power play, Adam Brooks pounced on a loose puck to give the visitors their first lead at 7:22 of frame. Michael Hutchinson slammed the door shut the rest of the period. The Moose goaltender came up with a key stop at the tail-end of a Marlies power play to keep the Moose within one. That proved key as the Moose pulled even with 6:12 left in the period when Niku set up Brody Sutter for a quick strike. Immediately following the goal, Hutchinson turned away a pair of Marlies chances to keep the game tied 2-2 through 40 minutes.
The third period saw the teams trade chances back and forth, but neither could gain the upper hand until the final minute. With 25 seconds remaining, Chris Mueller struck for Toronto to give the Marlies the late lead. The Moose couldn't produce a tying goal and fell by a 3-2 score.

Head Coach Pascal Vincent - "For us, that was a solid effort on our part. I thought we worked hard. I thought we battled hard. It was a good game for us. We don't like the result at the end of the game, and we know that's what (the Marlies) are good at. They work the puck down low, and they bring the pucks to the net. After playing for sixty minutes, that play there at the end is something we're pretty good at usually and that one, we weren't.
