Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (6-3-1) topped the Cleveland Monsters (3-7-0), 5-2, to capture their fourth straight win and fifth in a row at the MTS Centre on Saturday night.  Before the Moose got rolling, it was the Monsters who struck first for the second game in a row.  Oliver Bjorkstrand pounced on a Markus Hannikainen rebound 7:44 into the game to open the scoring.  The Moose found a tying marker across the midway point of the period when Scott Glennie banged in a Chase De Leo rebound following an excellent Jack Roslovic setup on a five-on-three powerplay.  Five minutes later, Brendan Lemieux gave Manitoba the lead, banking the puck in off Cleveland goaltender Joonas Korpisalo’s skate from below the goal line.  The Moose made it 3-1 with three minutes left in the period when Glennie redirected Kevin Czuczman’s point shot for his second of the night.  Ondrej Pavelec made 10 saves in the period to help the Moose get to the break with the 3-1 lead.

JC Lipon kept the run going when he turned on the jets to break in alone and go up top to give the Moose a 4-1 advantage.  Glennie picked up an assist on the goal for his third point of the night.  Cleveland cut the string of Manitoba goals on the powerplay when Ryan Craig jammed the puck past Pavelec to make it 4-2 at 9:05.  The Moose got back to business with 3:16 left in the period on Quinton Howden’s team-leading seventh goal of the year, sending Manitoba to the third up 5-2.

The scoring slowed in the third with the Moose holding their three goal lead.  Jimmy Lodge and Jordan Maletta turned up the heat, dropping the gloves near the mid-point of the frame.  Just after the tilt, Pavelec came up with a big blocker stop when Bjorkstrand sent Hannikainen in alone on the Moose netminder.  Anton Forsberg made 12 saves in the period in relief of Korpisalo while the Moose held Cleveland to just eight shots on the way to a 5-2 win.

Quotable
JC Lipon on winning with players called-up/injured – "It's the confidence. Even in previous years when guys go up, you don't necessarily worry about it, but it’s in the back of your head. You know, ‘that guys a big part of your lineup.’ So for us to come out (on top) with that many guys up is pretty cool."

Head Coach Pascal Vincent - "I was really proud of the guys.  We came out pretty hard.  The first eight minutes of the game we had two PK's, two penalties, and one power play.  So that’s six minutes out of eight minutes. Momentum was hard to get, but we played hard, we played the right way.  Second period we got away a little bit from our plan, but we still managed to create some scoring chances.  In the third period we played the way we should be playing."
