Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (4-3-1) and San Diego Gulls (2-3-1) met in the second half of their back-to-back set Saturday night.  The Moose wasted no time in bringing the fans to their feet when, just 1:01 in, Julian Melchiori launched a rocket past Dustin Tokarski.  The back end continued to provide offence for the Moose when Jan Kostalek made it 2-0 on another big shot, this time from the faceoff circle.  The Gulls cut into the Manitoba lead with under five minutes left when Scott Sabourin popped in an Andrew Welinski rebound, bringing the score to 2-1 Moose.  The teams peppered both goaltenders, each firing 14 shots on goal in the frame.

The shot count cooled early in the second, but the goals kept coming.  8:29 into the frame, Patrice Cormier stole the puck just outside the slot and went up high to restore the two goal advantage.  The captain got his second of the night when he broke away shorthanded and put together a slick move for a 4-1 lead with 6:39 left in the period.  The Gulls responded less than a minute later when Nick Sorensen got free on a break of his own, cutting the lead to 4-2.  With less than two minutes left in the period, the Moose saw their lead dwindle to 4-3 when Nick Tarnasky checked in with the Gulls’ third of the night.

The San Diego push continued into the third and they found a tying marker 12:11 into the final stanza.  Welinski fired from the point and the puck ricocheted wildly before hitting the crossbar and landing in the net.  Manitoba forged back in front just 1:18 later.  Peter Stoykewych stepped into a slap shot and Nic Petan got a piece of the puck, redirecting it past Tokarski.  The goal put the Moose in front for good as they swept the weekend set with San Diego, winning by a 5-4 score.

Quotable
Scott Glennie - “The organization’s been great.  They’ve given me an opportunity.  You know, being hurt on a PTO isn’t the best thing in the world, but they let me relax and get better, and then get into the lineup tonight. It was a good time. It was fun.”

Pascal Vincent - “I really, really liked (Peter Stoykewych’s) game yesterday, and today.  His ability to skate and find his man in the D-zone, and the neutral zone, making sure he’s on the right side of the puck, and not giving time and space—it’s been pretty good.  He’s been improving quite a bit in the past few weeks. He’s been a good player for us since the beginning, but you can see that he’s improving, so it’s a good addition to the team.”
