Winnipeg, MB – The Manitoba Moose Hockey Club announced today the team has signed forwards Kale Kessy and Elgin Pearce, along with defenceman Tim Daly to one-year contracts.
Kessy, 24, suited up for sixteen games with the Moose in 2016-17, while registering one assist and 16 penalty minutes. A native of Shaunavon, Sask., Kessy also played 32 games for the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL) where he totaled 23 points (11G, 12A) and 72 penalty minutes. The 6’3, 212 lb. forward has appeared in 143 games in his AHL career, tallying 25 points (12G, 13A) and 244 penalty minutes.
Pearce, 25, notched one assist in three games with Manitoba in 2016-17. The Port Coquitlam, B.C. product spent most of the season with the University of Calgary Dinos (U Sports) where he posted 31 points (20G, 11A) in 28 games. Pearce was named a U Sports first-team all-Canadian last season and became the first player in U Sports men’s hockey history to be a three-time winner of the R.W. Pugh Award as the league’s most sportsmanlike player (2015, 2016, and 2017). The 6’0”, 175 lb. forward played 94 career games for the Dinos, amassing 93 points (49G, 44A). Pearce has played 13 ECHL games, registering four points (2G, 2A) with Greenville and Gwinnett.
Daly, 25, skated in two games with the Moose last season, making his AHL debut on March 24 against Milwaukee. The Maple Ridge, B.C. native played the bulk of the 2016-17 campaign with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) where he put up 38 points (10G, 28A) in 59 games. That mark was tied for 18th among ECHL defenders. In 2015-16, Daly tallied two assists in 26 ECHL games split between Utah and the Norfolk Admirals. Prior to turning pro, Daly played 143 games at St. Cloud State University, posting 22 points (5G, 17A) in his NCAA career.
