In the eighth and final match of the season series between the Moose and the Wild, the two teams played a similar tight game on Friday night at the Wells Fargo Arena.

Iowa’s two second period goals turned out to be the difference as the Wild defeated the Moose 4-2.

The Wild goals were scored by Grayson Downing, Joe Finley, Dylan Labbe and Christoph Bertschy who added an empty net goal with just over a minute to play.

Manitoba had goals from Dan DeSalvo and Patrice Cormier.

The goal was Cormier’s second in as many games.

With an assist on Cormier’s goal, Brenden Kichton extended his point streak to five games. During his streak he has three goals and four assists for seven points.

Connor Hellebuyck had his consecutive win streak when starting snapped at five games. He made 35 saves in the game.

This was only the second time in the season series that a game was decided by two goals. Six of the eight games were decided by one goal.

Manitoba finishes the season series against the Wild with a 2-5-0-1 record.

The Moose will host the Milwaukee Admirals in the start of a two-game series on Tuesday, Apr. 5 at the MTS Centre at 7 p.m.
