Admirals hold on to defeat Moose
By: CK Nakhwal | Published: April 5th 2016The Moose did their best to comeback from a second period deficit but it wasn’t quite enough on Tuesday night when they hosted the Milwaukee Admirals at the MTS Centre.
Trailing by two goals heading into the third the Moose got an early goal from Brandon Denham who recorded his first career AHL goal on the play.
Milwaukee regained their two goal lead but the Moose continued to battle with Chase De Leo tipping in his 17th goal of the season off a John Albert slap shot with the Manitoba net empty.
Kevin Fiala sealed the win for the Admirals by scoring in an empty net with just under a minute remaining to give Milwaukee a 4-2 victory.
Fiala had a goal and two assists and was named the game’s first star. Adam Payerl, Pontus Aberg and Max Gortz had the other goals for the Admirals.
Forwards Jansen Harkins and Brendan Lemieux each made their AHL debuts for the Moose.
Harkins had an assist to record his first career AHL point while Lemieux finished third on the team in shots with three and had two penalty minutes.
Juuse Saros made 27 saves in the win for the Admirals, while Connor Hellebuyck allowed three goals on 27 shots.
With one game left to play in the season series the Moose have a 4-2-0-1 record against the Admirals.
The two teams will play for the final time this season when they face-off on Wednesday, April 6 at the MTS Centre at 7 p.m.
