In their eighth and final meeting of the regular season against the Charlotte Checkers on Monday night, the Manitoba Moose used some great goals and excellent goaltending to pick up a big 2-1 win.

Charlotte opened the scoring on a Derek Ryan goal after he tipped in a slap shot from Zach Miskovic from the point.

Scott Kosmachuk scored twice on two great shots to lift the Moose in front and they never looked back.

The goals gave Kosmachuk his second multi-goal game of the season and third of his AHL career. It was his third goal in his two games since being re-assigned by the Winnipeg Jets.

In total, Kosmachuk has five goals in his last five AHL games and he now leads all Moose players with 17 goals on the season.

With an assist on the second Moose goal, John Albert recorded his 150th career AHL point. The Moose Captain now has one goal and three assists in his last four games.

Brenden Kichton was excellent again as he extended his point streak to three games with an assist. In his last five games he has three goals and two assists. He currently sits 16th among AHL defencemen in scoring with nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points.

Connor Hellebuyck was superb again in the Moose net making 26 saves as he won his fourth consecutive start. In his last four starts he has a 0.75 goals against average and a .972 save percentage.

The Moose will next head out on the road to take on the Iowa Wild on Wednesday, Mar. 30. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. CDT.
