The Moose host the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight for the second of their back-to-back set. Manitoba pulled off a 4-2 win in comeback fashion last night. This evening's game features the annual Teddy Bear Toss in support of the Christmas Cheer Board. Fans are encouraged to bring new plush toys to the game to toss on the ice during the first intermission. Tickets for the game and fantastical flurry of fur are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

The Egle Has Landed

Haralds Egle played a pivotal part in the Moose come from behind win over the Griffins on Friday night. The forward had two assists in the win and in the process, recorded his first AHL multi-point game. Those two points also represent the forward’s first pair of points this season. The duo of helpers also mark a new career high for Egle. The Liepaja, Latvia native is has suited up in five games for the Moose during his second AHL season. Egle’s rookie year saw the forward record five points (4G, 1A) in 25 games in 2020-21.

Race to the Top

The Moose rank fourth in the Western Conference with a plus-18 goal differential. Manitoba has 71 goals on the campaign while only allowing 53 against. David Gustafsson and Cole Maier are tied neck and neck for the Moose goal-scoring lead with seven goals each this season. Both forwards have reached that tally in 22 games played. Maier has a shorthanded tally to his credit, while Gustafsson has the edge on the power play with three of his seven coming by way of the man advantage. The two leaders have plenty of teammates hot on their heels. The Moose feature six total players with five or more goals on the season.

Strong Rebounding

The Moose have racked up 14 wins over the course of their 22 games to date this season. A trend beginning to emerge is how the Moose bounce back after a loss. Manitoba is stellar in that department with  record of 6-0-1 after losses this season. The Moose have yet to lose back-to-back contests in regulation. The club has outscored its opposition by an impressive 25-10 margin when coming off a loss. The last time the Moose lost back-to-back regulation games was May 15 and 16, 2021 at the hands of the Belleville Senators to close out the 2020-21 season.

Penalty Killing Leading the Way

The Moose penalty kill continues to be a key to the club’s success. Manitoba is a stellar 9-3-1 in the 13 games it hasn’t allowed a power play goal. The Moose have been shorthanded a total of 75 times this season and have given up just nine power play goals in that stretch. That’s good for a success rate of 88.0 percent, which is top-three in the AHL. The Moose have two shorthanded goals to their credit so far this season.

Who's Trending?

Forward David Gustafsson has goals in back-to-back games. The forward is up to 16 points (7G, 9A) in 22 games which is currently tops on the team. His goal with 3:27 remaining in yesterday’s contest stood up as the winner and marked his fifth career game-winning goal. That tally also tied him for first in team goal scoring this season.
