The Manitoba Moose try to pick up points for the third straight game this afternoon when they host the Milwaukee Admirals this afternoon. The Admirals claimed a back-and-forth matchup between the clubs on Thursday, winning 4-3 in a shootout. Alex Limoges comes into today’s game with 99 career AHL games under his belt. Limoges made his AHL debut with the San Diego Gulls on March 26, 2021 against the Bakersfield Condors. The Winchester, Vir. product recorded an assist and three shots on goal in his debut. Though 99 games, Limoges has 77 points (40G, 37A) to his name. The winger is on a career-pace this season with 16 points (6G, 10A) in 14 games with Manitoba. Limoges has six goals in his past nine games and four points (2G, 2A) combined in his past two outings. He has recorded at least a point in 11 of his 14 outings this season.

300 in the Books

Thursday’s contest against the Milwaukee Admirals represented AHL game number 300 for Moose defenceman Ashton Sautner. The majority of Sautner’s career was played in Utica with the Comets, where the defender suited up in 240 games over the course of five seasons from 2015-2020. Sautner also played 41 games with Abbotsford in 2021-22 and is up to 19 total Moose games over his career. Sautner has 65 AHL points (14G, 51A) over 300 games. He also has 351 shots, with a career-high 84 of them coming in 2017-18. Through 17 games with Manitoba this season, the defender has put together three assists.

Bongionlygoals

Wyatt Bongiovanni netted a goal in the second period of Manitoba’s shootout loss against Milwaukee. The tally pushed the forward up to four goals on the season. Bongiovanni hasn’t gone longer than four games this season without potting a goal. The forward, who signed a two-year entry-level contract with Winnipeg in 2022, has a 21.1 shooting percentage through 15 Moose games this season. The Birmingham, Mich. product’s four tallies currently rank him fourth among Moose rookies so far through the 2022-23 campaign.

Double-Digits

The Moose saw a pair of forwards reach double-digits in the assist category on Thursday as Alex Limoges and Kevin Stenlund each picked up a helper on Jeff Malott’s second period power play goal. It was fitting for the pair to hit the mark on the power play as Stenlund leads the Moose with five power play assists while Limoges is right behind him with four helpers on the man-advantage. Limoges’ six even strength assists are tied with defenceman Ville Heinola for the lead in that category. Both Stenlund and Limoges set career highs last season when they each tallied 17 assists.

Jeff Malott scored his eighth goal of the season in Manitoba’s shootout loss against the Admirals on Thursday. Malott is now up to 11 points (8G, 3A) on the campaign and sits third in Moose scoring. Malott is now tied for first on the squad with three power play markers. Over the last three Moose seasons, no skater has registered more goals than Malott’s 45.
