By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: February 10th 2023

The Manitoba Moose get back in action following the AHL All-Star break tonight in Grand Rapids. It's the third meeting of the season between the Moose and Griffins. The teams haven't faced off since Nov. 26 when Manitoba grabbed a 4-1 win. The Moose have dropped three straight games, but gathered at least a point in two of the outings. Coverage of tonight's 6 p.m. CT matchup gets started at 5:45 p.m. CT on CJOB.com/sports, the Winnipeg Jets App or AHLTV.

Power Play Presence

Manitoba’s power play connected twice in an overtime loss in Milwaukee on Saturday. Over the course of the campaign, the Moose have scored two or more power play goals in 10 total contests and are 7-1-2-0 in those games. When Manitoba notches multiple power play tallies on the road, the club’s record is 5-0-2-0. The Moose power play has scored 33 times and coverts at a 24.1% clip, which ranks third overall in the league. Manitoba is also the only team in the league to not allow a shorthanded goal against. Jeff Malott leads the antlered ones with eight goals on the man-advantage, while Declan Chisholm paces the club with 13 assists while on the power play.

Chis-eling Away

Declan Chisholm notched an assist in Saturday’s contest in Milwaukee. The assist brings the defender up to 31 points (4G, 27A) through 42 games. That marks a new career-high for the defenceman, who recorded 30 points (9G, 21A) in 53 games during the 2021-22 season with Manitoba. Chisholm, who was drafted by Winnipeg in the fifth round in 2018, leads Moose blueliners in scoring and has set additional career-highs with three power play goals and two game-winning tallies. Over his Moose career, the defenceman has 74 points (15G, 59A) in 123 contests.

Providing Offence

Alex Limoges scored a power play goal in the second period in Saturday’s contest against Milwaukee. The tally, which was the forward’s 10th of the season, means Limoges has hit the double-digit goal plateau for the third straight time in his AHL career. The goal also makes the Penn State alum the second Moose skater this season to hit double-digits in both goals and assists. Limoges, who was inked to a one-year entry-level contract with Winnipeg in 2022, leads the Moose in scoring with 38 points (10G, 28A) in 40 games. Limoges is also sitting at 99 career AHL points (44G, 55A) in 125 games split between Manitoba and San Diego.

Blue Line Production

Ville Heinola tallied a pair of assists in Manitoba’s recent overtime loss against Milwaukee. The defenceman, who was drafted in the first round by Winnipeg in 2019, has now recorded five multi-point games this season. That ties a previous career-high set in the 2021-22 campaign. The Honkajoki, Finland product sits third in scoring from Moose defencemen and paces the club with a plus-17 rating. Heinola’s plus-17 mark ranks him ninth among AHL defenders this season.

Who's Trending?

Kristian Reichel recorded a pair of goals in Manitoba’s overtime loss on Saturday. The tallies give the forward three goals over his past two contests and up to 14 points (6G, 8A) in 39 games. Reichel, who has suited up in 192 AHL contests, is now three points away from equaling his 2019-20 career-high.
