The Manitoba Moose return home for the first time in over two weeks as they get set to take on the Iowa Wild. While away from home, the Moose posted a 2-1-1-1 record, and also dropped a 4-2 result to Toronto on Monday to conclude their suspended game from Jan. 13. Tonight's contest kicks off eight straight games on home ice, all against divisional opponents. Tickets for this evening's 7 p.m. CT game at Canada Life Centre are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

Welcome Back, Captain

Monday night’s contest in Toronto marked the first game of the season for Moose captain Jimmy Oligny. Due to an injury sustained in the summer, the defenceman hadn’t appeared in an AHL contest since May, 15/22 in a postseason clash against Milwaukee. The gap between contests 274 days, nearly nine months, for the defender. Over his career, Oligny has tallied 90 points (17G, 73A) in 449 career AHL contests.  The St. Michel, Que. product has registered 46 points (13G, 36A) in 174 games with the Moose. Oligny owns the most AHL experience on Manitoba’s roster.

Home Sweet Home

Manitoba’s Central Division clash tonight sees the team gear up and play at Canada Life Centre for the start of an eight-game home stand. The stretch runs all the way to March 5/23. The eight-game home stand is tied for the longest of the Moose season as the antlered ones will play eight straight at home again from March 22-April 7. Manitoba is 11-7-1-1 on home ice this season. Alex Limoges leads the team with 17 points (4G, 13A) at Canada Life Centre. Declan Chisholm paces the defence corps with 15 points (1G, 14A) at home.

Goal-Scoring Pace

Dominic Toninato notched his 10th goal of the season in Manitoba’s win against Grand Rapids on Saturday. It is the second time in his AHL career the forward has hit the double-digit goal plateau. Toninato, a former Toronto draft pick in 2012, had his best goal-scoring AHL campaign in 2018-19 as a member of the Colorado Eagles. That season saw the forward total 14 goals over 57 contests. At the 28-game mark of that campaign with Colorado, the forward had five tgoals. This time around with Manitoba, 28 games into his season, Toninato has 10 goals and 18 points and is tied for the Moose lead with four-game winning tallies.

Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets assigned forward Axel Jonsson-Fjallby to the Moose on Tuesday. The forward has 11 points (4G, 7A) in 45 games with the Jets this season. The forward also owns 152 games of AHL experience with the Hershey Bears and has tallied 75 points (40G, 35A) over that span. Manitoba also reassigned forward Joseph Nardi to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye. Nardi appeared in four contests with the Moose this season, scoring a goal in his AHL debut on Jan. 4, 2023.

Who's Trending?

Alex Limoges notched two goals in the Moose loss versus Toronto. That gives the forward 41 points (13G, 28A) in 42 games and is a new-career high. Over his AHL career, Limoges has recorded 102 points (47G, 55A) in 127 games. The 41 points is one shy of Mikey Eyssimont’s team-leading 42 points in 2021-22.
