By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: February 17th 2023

The Manitoba Moose host the Iowa Wild as they try for their third four-game winning streak of the season tonight. Manitoba grabbed a 4-2 decision on Wednesday and has wins in four of five games against Iowa this season.

It's Pride Night at Canada Life Centre this evening in support of Rainbow Resource Centre. Tickets are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

Leon Lets it Fly

Leon Gawanke scored a third period tally in Manitoba’s win over Iowa on Wednesday. The marker was the defenceman’s 12th of the season, which ties him for second among all AHL defenders and puts him one off the league lead of 13. Gawanke, drafted in the fifth round by Winnipeg in 2017, has six points (4G, 2A) over his past 10 contests and has set new career-high numbers with five power play goals and three game-winning tallies. The Berlin, Germany product is also firing at a career-best shooting percentage, scoring on 11 percent of his shots. The defenceman is attempting to chase down the Moose all-time record of goals by a defender in a single season. That honour belongs to Brett Hauer, who recorded 17 goals in the 2000-01 season.

Multi-Point Night

Jansen Harkins scored twice in the second period of Wednesday’s game. It is the first time this season that Harkins has tallied two goals in the same game, and the sixth time this season the forward has recorded a multi-point outing. Harkins has notched three multi-point games in a row, which ties his in-season high. The two goals also mark the second time in his AHL career that Harkins has hit the double-digit plateau in the goal column. Harkins, drafted by Winnipeg in the second round in 2015, sits third among Moose forwards in scoring and paces the forward corps with a plus-12 rating. Harkins has tallied 103 points (38G, 65A) in 174 AHL contests, all with Manitoba.

Technician of the Twine

Arvid Holm picked up the win for the Moose on Wednesday evening. The netminder hasn’t allowed more than two goals over his past five starts. Since Jan. 21, Holm features a 1.79 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage. A sixth round Winnipeg draft pick in 2017, Holm has a 12-7-3 record to go along with a 2.70 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. Holm ranks seventh among rookie netminders in goals-against average, eighth in save percentage and his 1289 minutes played sit him sixth.

First in Antlers

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scored his first goal as a member of the Moose in the second period of Manitoba’s win on Wednesday. The goal stood up as the game-winning tally, which was the forward’s first since Oct. 17/21 with Hershey. Jonsson-Fjallby, who was reassigned to the Moose by the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, has tallied at least one game-winner in each of the five seasons he’s played in the AHL. The forward has 153 games of AHL experience under his belt and had registered 76 points (41G, 35A) over that span between Hershey and Manitoba.

Who's Trending?

Kristian Reichel notched an assist in Manitoba’s win on Wednesday. The assist was his 10th of the season and represents the first time he’s hit the double digit mark. Reichel is also in the midst of a five-game point streak and has seven points (5G, 2A) in that span. The forward has 70 points (33G, 37A) in 195 AHL contests.
