The Manitoba Moose face off against the Milwaukee Admirals as the Moose try to chase down the Admirals in the standings. Manitoba comes into the two-game set just four points back of Milwaukee. The Moose are coming off a 5-1 win against Grand Rapids that extended the team's point streak to seven games. The antlered ones also have 13 points in the past 16 outings. Staying Hot

Kristian Reichel netted a shorthanded goal in Monday’s home victory. The tally was Reichel’s second shorthanded marker of the season. That mark leads the Moose and ties his previous career-high set in 2021-22. The shorthanded goal was also Manitoba’s seventh of the season, which puts the Moose second in the Central Division. Reichel has nine points (6G, 3A) over his past 10 contests and has tallied 20 points (9G, 11A) in 45 games this season. The Litvinov, Czechia product has new career-highs in assists, points and shots this season.

Picking up Points

Manitoba has wins in five of its past six contests and is currently on a seven-game point streak (5-0-1-1). The streak represents a season-long for the Moose, with the previous high coming in the form of a five-game stretch from Oct. 15/22 to Oct. 23/22. In the 2021-22 season, the Moose had two instances of a point streak stretching seven or more games. The first came between Jan. 4/22 and Jan. 15/22, while the second took place between Feb. 27/22 and Mar. 20/22. In addition to Manitoba’s current streak, the Moose have acquired points in 13 of the past 16 contests dating back to Jan. 14/23 against the Belleville Senators.

Henri’s Helping

Henri Nikkanen put together three assists in Monday’s 5-1 win. The three assists represent the first multi-point game of the pivot’s AHL career. In addition, Nikkanen’s performance brought the forward to the 10-assist mark on the campaign. Nikkanen, a fourth round pick of Winnipeg in 2019, finds himself with 14 points (4G, 10A) over the span of 45 games and co-leads the antlered rookies in points. Nikkanen made his AHL debut against the Admirals on April 24/22 during the 2021-22 campaign.

Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets recalled Axel Jonsson-Fjallby from the Moose on Tuesday. The forward appeared in four games for the Moose and recorded four points (3G, 1A) in that span. Two of those four tallies turned into game-winning markers. The Stockholm, Sweden product played in 156  AHL games between Manitoba and the Hershey Bears and tallied 79 points (43G, 36A). The Moose also recalled Isaac Johnson from the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers. Johnson has appeared in seven games with the Moose this season and tallied one assist. The forward also posted 31 points (14G, 17A) in 23 games with the Growlers. Johnson has suited up in 18 career AHL games, all with Manitoba, and has posted five points (1G, 4A) in those outings.

Daniel Torgersson recorded two points (1G, 1A) in Manitoba’s win over Grand Rapids. The multi-point outing was the forward’s second of the season. The Hono, Sweden product has 13 points (7G, 6A) through 47 games and ranks one point off the lead and second in goals among Moose rookie scorers.
