The Manitoba Moose dropped a 4-3 decision to the Laval Rocket last night in Montreal. The good news for the Moose is they get another crack at the Rocket this afternoon. The teams clash at 3 p.m. CT to finish their four-game series. Tune in to the game on CJOB.com/sports, MooseHockey.com/LISTENLIVE or watch with a subscription to AHLTV. Coverage begins at 2:45 p.m. CT.

Fear of Todd

Nathan Todd collected the primary assist on Declan Chisholm’s first period tally in Manitoba’s 4-3 loss on Friday night. The assist pushed Todd’s current point streak to six games. His run is tied for the second-longest point streak on the season. Only Iowa’s Gabriel Dumont, at seven games, has a longer streak. Overall, the forward has eight points (4G, 4A) in seven games on the 2020-21 season. Todd recorded a shot on net in all seven games on the campaign so far.

Dynamic Duo?

Moose defenceman Declan Chisholm and forward Cole Perfetti each scored the second goals of their professional careers on Friday night. The pair of rookies also scored their first professional goals on the same night. The duo tallied first period of Manitoba 3-2 loss to Toronto on
Feb. 15. In a similar situation to that contest, Chisholm scored first with Perfetti following later in the game. Chisholm is tied with Ville Heinola for the scoring lead among Manitoba defencemen with a pair of goals each. Perfetti ranks fourth on the Moose with four points (2G, 2A) and is riding a three-game point streak.

Back-to-Back

Today’s game is the third back-to-back situation the Moose have played in. Manitoba split its two sets of consecutive games against Toronto with each club picking up a win in the second game. Nathan Todd
(1G, 1A), Tyler Graovac (2A) and Bobby Lynch (1G, 1A) lead the Moose with two points each playing on consecutive nights.

Special, Special Teams

The Moose have now scored power play goals in three consecutive games, striking on four of their past seven chances with the man-advantage. The burst improved Manitoba rank to fifth among AHL teams with the power play. The club also hasn’t allowed a power play goal in four games. The Moose penalty kill is operating at 86.7%, ranked eighth in the league.
