The Manitoba Moose (18-29-1-1) close out their season series against the Belleville Senators (23-18-4-4) tonight. Puck drop at CAA Arena is slated for 6 p.m. CT. The Moose are coming off back-to-back overtime victories, including their 3-2 win against Belleville on Wednesday. Manitoba holds a 3-1-0-0 record on the current six-game road swing and is running 6-4-0-0 over the past 10 games. Starting Into the Final Turn

Wednesday’s game marked the start of the final third of the regular season for the Moose. Manitoba posted a 10-13-1-0 mark from games 25-48, bumping up the pace from a 7-16-0-1 mark in the opening 24 games. Dylan Coghlan led the team during the middle-third of the campaign with 13 points (7G, 6A). Parker Ford paced the team with 10 goals during the stretch. Domenic DiVincentiis led the netminders with five wins while posting a 2.78 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Mason Shaw, Ashton Sautner, Axel Jonsson-Fjällby and Jaret Anderson-Dolan appeared in all 24 games.

A Franchise First!

Dominic Toninato showed off some more of his clutch timing on Wednesday, scoring his second consecutive overtime-winner. It’s the first time in franchise history a player has scored the overtime winner in consecutive games. It’s also the first time in Toninato’s career he has scored multiple overtime goals in a season. The game-winner also pushed Toninato up to eighth on the franchise leaderboard with 12 game-winning goals as a member of the Moose. The captain posted two points (1G, 1A) in the win and is tied for second in team scoring with 21 points (11G, 10A) in 39 games.

Back-to-Back Comeback

The Moose erased one-goal, third period deficits to win each of their past two games. Wednesday’s victory marked the second time this season the Moose entered the third period trailing and came out with a win. With both comeback victories requiring overtime, it marked just the fifth time in franchise history the Moose won consecutive overtime games. Manitoba is tied for the fourth-least trips to overtime in the AHL this season, but holds a 3-1 record in the three-on-three period. The Moose have also added a 2-1 record in the shootout, with their shootout loss coming to Belleville.

Terrific Trifecta

Elias Salomonsson racked up three assists on Wednesday. It was Salomonsson’s first AHL three-assist game, and second three-point outing of the season. The rookie defender pushed his total to 15 assists on the campaign, along with eight primary helpers. Salomonsson is second on the team in both categories. The Skellefteå, Sweden export leads Moose rookies and Manitoba defenders with 18 points (3G, 15A) on the season. He is tied for 12th among AHL rookie defenders in points and is sixth in the group in points per game (min 20 games).

Brad Lambert scored his fourth goal of the season in Manitoba’s win on Wednesday. The tally was Lambert’s second power play goal of the campaign. The Lahti, Finland product is up to 24 points (4G, 20A) in 40 games, which leads the Moose. Lambert has points in four of his past six games and now has eight points (1G, 7A) over his past nine outings.
