One More ‘Til Rockford

Thomas Milic will soon depart for the AHL All-Star Classic in Rockford, where he’ll represent the Moose in both the Skills Competition and the All-Star Challenge on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11, respectively. The Coquitlam, B.C. native owns a 10-5-3 record in 18 appearances with the Moose in 2025-26, posting a 2.34 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. In his third professional season, Milic was recalled by the Winnipeg Jets, making his NHL debut on Nov. 28 against the Carolina Hurricanes. He turned aside 30 shots in his first NHL start. Milic has a win in four of his past six starts, allowing two or fewer goals in five of those contests. In 72 career AHL games, he has 34 wins, recording a 2.84 GAA. Milic was a fifth-round pick of the Jets in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Shaw Dropping Jaws

Moose captain Mason Shaw has been a handful for his opposition all season long, but lately, he’s ratcheted things up to another level. The Wainwright, Alta. native currently enjoys a team-high six-game point streak (4G, 2A), extending it with a late goal against the Stars on Friday night. Dating back to the beginning of December, Shaw has scored 16 points (9G, 7A) in 19 games. That run extends his lead atop Manitoba’s point leaderboard with 28 points (13G, 15A) through 40 total games. The Minnesota Wild fourth round draft pick in 2017 leads the Moose with 13 goals on the season, and his 15 helpers put him third on the team in the category. Shaw is also tied for the team lead in plus/minus, boasting a plus-10 rating. Shaw is a veteran of 309 AHL games, scoring 186 points (73G, 113A). He also contributed a further 20 points (8G, 12A) in 82 NHL games with the Wild. He played for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in December, recording one assist in three games.

PK Succeeding in Texas

Manitoba’s penalty kill has found success against the Texas Stars through five matchups with their Central Division rivals this season. The Moose have faced 17 shorthanded situations against the Stars in 2025-26, conceding just once, and killing off penalties at a rate of 94.1 percent. The strong defence when disadvantaged leaks over into five-on-five play as well. Manitoba has allowed two goals in three of their five meetings with the Stars this season. The Moose have been dialled in defensively in general of late, holding their opposition to nine goals over their past seven games, never allowing more than two goals in a game. Manitoba holds a 5-2-0-0 record in that span.

Who's Trending?

Brad Lambert has been an offensive threat for the Moose in their past six games, recording five points (2G, 3A). Lambert contributed an assist on Mason Shaw’s late marker on Friday night in Texas, bringing his season total to 12 points (5G, 7A) through 28 contests. The Lahti, Finland native also led all skaters with four shots on goal in the contest.
