The Manitoba Moose (20-31-1-3) begin a four-game trip through the Midwest U.S. against the Chicago Wolves (29-23-3-0) at Allstate Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. CT. The Moose saw their four-game point streak snapped on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to Calgary. Meanwhile the Wolves have wins in back-to-back outings following a 4-0 win over Texas on Sunday. Three’s Company

Forward Fabian Wagner is on a tear since scoring his first AHL goal on March 5 against Grand Rapids. Wagner has goals in three consecutive games after his tally against Calgary on Sunday. His streak matches Dominic Toninato and Parker Ford for the longest goal streak by a Moose skater this season. In total, Wagner has points in four consecutive games while picking up four points (3G, 1A) in that span. The rookie has six points (3G, 3A) in 34 games since joining the Moose in November.

Shooters Shoot

Forward Dominic Toninato is racking up numbers with 16 points (8G, 8A) in his past 18 games. Toninato has at least one point in 13 of those 18 contests, which include a three-game goal streak and a five-game point streak. The Moose captain has at least five shots on goal in each of his past four games and has at least five shots in eight contests over that quarter-season. Toninato set a new career-high with seven shots on goal Saturday and promptly matched that number on Sunday. The Duluth, Minn. product is second on the Moose with 117 shots in 45 games.

Like Looking in a Special Teams Mirror

The Moose and Wolves have shockingly similar special teams numbers coming into tonight’s matchup. The two teams are tied with a 16.5 percent success rate on the power play. They are also tied on the penalty kill, shutting down 81.0 percent of opposition power plays. While the two power plays require rounding to one decimal point to match, the penalty kills are completely identical. The Moose and Wolves have both faced 189 penalty kills and surrendered 36 power play goals through 55 games.

New Addition

The Moose announced yesterday the team signed forward Jamie Engelbert to a professional tryout. Engelbert has 32 points (17G, 15A) in 40 games this season split between the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays and Bloomington Bisons. The Whitby, Ont. product is in his first professional campaign after five seasons at Providence College where he totalled 45 points (24G, 21A) in 145 career NCAA games.
