The Manitoba Moose (0-0-1-0) seek to avenge last night's overtime loss when they face off against the Rockford IceHogs (1-0-0-0) today. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Canada Life Centre. The IceHogs pulled off a comeback win last night, tying the game with two minutes left and eventually winning in overtime. Mikey Eyssimont (2A) and Daniel Torgersson (1G, 1A) each had two points in the Manitoba loss last night. Tickets for this afternoon's rematch are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

Grab That Puck!

Chaz Lucius, who was one of the youngest Moose skaters in the lineup on Saturday, made quite the impression in his first professional game. The forward scored a power play goal in the second period of the contest against Rockford for his first professional tally and point. The Lawrence, Kansas native was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, 18th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The pivot finished the contest with a goal, five shots on goal and a plus-one rating.

Swedish Sensation

Daniel Torgersson continues to have a nose for the net. The Winnipeg Jets second round pick, 40th overall, in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft was one of two Moose forwards to record a multi-point game in the overtime loss. The native of Hono, Sweden registered a goal and an assist and now has points in four straight games (3G, 2A) dating back to last regular season. He also ended with a tidy plus-two rating in the narrow overtime loss.

Right Back To It

Mikey Eyssimont picked up right where he left off at the end of the 2021-22 campaign. The forward, who is now in his second season with the Moose, picked up a pair of helpers in Manitoba’s season-opening loss. Those points have the Littleton, Colo. native tied atop the Moose scoring leaderboard early in the 2022-23 season. Eyssimont led the Moose in scoring last season with 42 points (18G, 24A) in 58 games and ended the season in style with a hat-trick on home ice. Eyssimont, who has suited up for the Ontario Reign and Moose over his professional tenure, is currently sitting one goal shy from 50 total in his AHL career.

First Points in Antlers

The Moose season opening roster featured five skaters who were donning antlers for the first time in their professional careers. Out of those five, three of them recorded at least one point in the overtime loss. Alex Limoges tallied an assist on Leon Gawanke’s first of the season in the opening frame. Chaz Lucius recorded his first career AHL goal, with forward Kevin Stenlund adding his first helper in antlers in the second. The final point came from Finnish forward Henri Nikkanen. The native of Mikkeli, Finland suited up in four regular season games for Manitoba at the conclusion of last season, but was unable to find the scoresheet. That changed on Saturday, with Nikkanen tallying an assist on Kristian Reichel’s marker in the third frame.

Who's Trending?

Leon Gawanke fired home his first of the season in Manitoba’s overtime loss yesterday afternoon. Gawanke led the Moose blue line this past season with 36 points (10G, 26A) in 65 games. The German born defender also had a productive playoff in 2022. He was credited with four points (1G, 3A) in five games and finished a plus-six in the postseason.
