The Manitoba Moose hit the road for their first three games in unfriendly territory this weekend. The three-in-three stretch opens in Chicago where the Moose face the defending-champion Wolves tonight. Manitoba posted a 4-2-2 record against the eventual champs during the 2021-22 regular season. The Moose are coming off a three-point weekend, while Chicago dropped its opener to Milwaukee. Coverage of tonight's matchup gets going at 6:45 p.m. on CJOB.com/sports, the new Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV.com.

First on the Board

Brad Lambert, who was selected 30th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, recorded his first AHL goal in Manitoba’s 4-0 win over the Rockford IceHogs this past Sunday. The Lahti, Finland native was sprung out of the box by a stretch pass from Declan Chisholm. Lambert buried the shot and gave the Moose some insurance halfway through the final frame. The winger finished the contest with a goal, one shot on goal and a plus-two rating.

No Rubber Past Me

Oskari Salminen impressed in his first taste of Moose action. The goaltender, who was signed by Winnipeg over the summer to a two-year deal, backstopped the Moose to a 4-0 Sunday win.  The native of Kotka, Finland stopped all 32 shots he faced on the way to his first career AHL shutout and victory. He was named the first star of the contest for his efforts. Salminen is no stranger of putting together a clean sheet, as he led the Liiga with nine shutouts through the 2021-22 season with Jukurit.

Shorthanded Wizardry

Jansen Harkins made an immediate impact in his first Moose game of the 2022-23 campaign. With the Moose and IceHogs locked scoreless contest, Harkins sniped a shorthanded tally to break the ice. It was the first Moose goal Harkins had scored since
Dec. 11/19 and it stood up as the eventual game-winning tally on Sunday. The Winnipeg Jets 2015 second round selection was the first Moose skater to collect a shorthanded marker this season. Harkins played the past three seasons with Winnipeg, recording 22 points (10G, 12A) in 132 NHL games.

Offence From Defence

Declan Chisholm, Winnipeg’s fifth round pick in 2018, recorded a pair of assists in Sunday’s 4-0 win for his first multi-point game of the season. Chisholm recorded a career-high 30 points (9G, 21A) and seven multi-point outings during the 2021-22 season. Chisholm’s offensive prowess tied him for second on the squad in points by  a defenceman and sixth overall on the team. The Bowmanville, Ontario native also took his game to another level during the 2022 AHL playoffs, where he put together seven points (2G, 5A) in five contests.

Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets announced today the team recalled forward Dominic Toninato from the Moose. Toninato appeared in one game with Manitoba this season. The forward posted 14 points (7G, 7A) in 77 games with the Jets during the 2021-22 campaign. He also added one assist in two contests with the Moose.

Who's Trending?

Evan Polei put together a two-point performance  in Sunday’s win over Rockford. The forward is up to two points (1G, 1A) in two games through the 2022-23 season. Polei  assisted on Sunday’s game-winning tally before powering his way down the ice and putting the contest to bed with an empty net marker with two and a half minutes to play.
