Game Story

The Manitoba Moose (10-12-1-0) fell 4-3 to the Bakersfield Condors (11-8-0-0) Wednesday night in game four of their six-game California road trip.  The Condors started off the game by converting on a power play opportunity with David Gust slamming home a one-timer just over nine minutes into the game. A little more than a minute later, Bakersfield doubled that lead with Josh Currie intercepting an attempted clear by Eric Comrie and firing it on net. The puck deflected off a Moose stick and into the goal resulting in the 2-0 score after 20 minutes.

After being shut out by Shane Starrett in the first meeting, the Moose finally solved the Bakersfield netminder just over two minutes into the middle frame. Logan Stanley's point shot was tipped by Michael Spacek and right to Logan Shaw. Shaw fired it on net immediately and scored his ninth of the season. The Condors answered 1:27 later when a battle along the boards resulted in the puck bouncing out front where a wide open Ryan Stanton was able to beat Comrie. With just under five minutes left in the second period, a William Lagesson wrister found it's way through traffic to give Bakersfield it's first three-goal lead. That lead didn't last as Jansen Harkins batted a puck out front of the Condors net where Shaw was waiting to swat home his second of the game with 62 seconds left in the frame.

Shaw wasn't done there, completing the hat trick near the midway point of the final period by blasting a slap shot past Starrett to cut the lead to one. That Bakersfield lead would hold despite some chances for Manitoba with the goalie pulled. Peter Stoykewych and Spacek each barely missed the net on chances in the dying seconds. The Moose couldn't force extra time and Bakersfield won by a final score of 4-3.
