A span of 4:46 sunk the Moose on Saturday night against the Toronto Marlies at the MTS Centre.

The Moose hung-in with the AHL’s the top team in the standings through two periods and got a boost from JC Lipon who evened the game with a big powerplay goal with just under four minutes in the second.

It was Lipon’s seventh goal of the season, which now puts him in a tie for second on the team.

In the third period the Marlies scored three quick goals that the Moose couldn’t recover from as the game slipped away from them.

T.J Brennan (1G, 1A), Jeremy Morin (1G, 1A), Nikita Soshnikov (1G, 1A) and Brett Findlay (0G, 2A) each had multi-point games for the Marlies improving their road record to a league high 17-2-1-0.

Eric Comrie made his 12th straight start in the Moose net. He faced a season high 45 shots in the game and matched a season high with 41 saves including several spectacular highlight reel stops.

The Moose now trail the season series against Marlies with a 0-5-0-1 record. They will host Toronto two more times this season on Feb. 4 & 6 in Winnipeg.

For one night only the Moose wore special polar bear jerseys.

The jerseys will be auctioned off with the proceeds going towards the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s Polar Rescue Team.

The Moose will be back in action as they host the Lake Erie Monsters in the final two games of their current eight game home stand on Monday, Jan. 11 and Wednesday, Jan 13. Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m.
