Less than 24 hours after a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory, the Manitoba Moose (3-3-0-1) aim to sweep the San Diego Gulls (2-2-1-0) inside MTS Centre at 7 p.m. CT.

Friday was the first time the Gulls soared into Winnipeg since joining the AHL last season, and you could say their flight was a little turbulent. Manitoba trailed San Diego 2-1 heading into the final frame, but as the Moose have proved already this season – it’s never over until the clock strikes zero. With a little over seven minutes left in the third, Chase De Leo buried a rebound on the powerplay to tie the game. After a torrid pace to end the final 20 minutes, overtime was needed – setting the stage for De Leo and Scott Kosmachuk. The pair connected 1:31 into the extra frame when Kosmachuk finished off De Leo’s 2-on-1 pass, sealing the 3-2 overtime win.

Mighty Moose

A few Manitoba forwards look to continue to make an offensive impact heading into Saturday night. Quinton Howden added a goal on Friday, giving him four on the year. Howden sits third in the league in shot percentage amoung players with 10 or more shots this season. His four goals have come on 33.3% of his shots.

Scott Kosmachuk looks to keep his home scoring streak intact. The third-year-pro has registered a goal in every home game this season, including the OT winner on Friday. Kosmachuk also added an assist on De Leo’s powerplay marker, giving him four points (3G 1A) this season.

Top Gull

Despite their 3-2 loss to Manitoba, a pair Gulls’ forward added to his point total. Corey Tropp is now tied for second in AHL scoring after a goal on Friday, giving him nine points this season (3G 6A).

Time to take Advantage

Manitoba hopes to capitalize on the league’s worst penalty kill on Saturday night. San Diego surrendered another powerplay goal on Friday, setting their PK at 59.1%. Manitoba’s powerplay is ranked 14th in the league, operating at 19.4%.

Looking Ahead

After tonight’s tilt, the team will hold their first Autograph Alley in the MTS Centre concourse. The Moose will have a few days of practice before they continue their homestand. They open a two-game set on Thursday (Nov. 3) against the defending league champion, Cleveland Monsters. They’ll meet again on Saturday night (Nov. 5).
