The Manitoba Moose begin their final road trip of the regular season tonight (7 p.m. CT) in Milwaukee against the Admirals. With three games left in the regular season, the Moose can gain home ice advantage in their First Round series against Texas by sweeping the trip. Manitoba went 3-1-0 on its recent homestand, dropping the finale to Iowa by a 4-3 count on Sunday. First to 40

Defenceman Kyle Capobianco recorded five points (1G, 4A) over his past two games. The defender’s assist in Sunday’s game pushed him to 40 on the campaign. Capobianco was the first AHL defender to reach the mark this season. He’s just the second Moose defenceman to record 40 assists in a single campaign. Capobianco is tied for the Moose lead and paces AHL defenders with 52 points (12G, 40A) on the season and holds a plus-30 rating. Should the Mississauga, Ont. product finish the season with his plus-30 rating intact he will set a new franchise record.

On the Road Again

The Moose wrap up the 2023-24 regular season with three road games including this evening’s tilt. Manitoba holds an 18-14-0-1 record on the road this season, the third-best mark in the division. The Moose are 6-4-0-0 over their past 10 road outings. Meanwhile, Manitoba is 10-2-0-1 over its past 13 road games against Central Division opposition. Brad Lambert paces the Moose with 21 points (6G, 15A) through 19 road contests within the division.

Finishing Chances

C.J. Suess notched a third period goal in Manitoba’s game against Iowa on Sunday. It was the second time Suess tallied a goal within the final two minutes in the past three games. The forward is riding a three-game point streak, tying the longest mark of his campaign, and has tallied three points (2G, 1A) in that span. The winger has registered 19 points (9G, 10A) in 66 games over the course of the season and his three game-winning goals are one shy of matching his previous career-high. Suess, who recently registered his 100th point as a member of the Moose, has recorded 124 total points (64G, 60A) in 278 career games between Manitoba and San Jose.

Double Debut

Colby Barlow and Dylan Anhorn both made their professional debuts against Iowa on Sunday. Barlow finished the contest with a shot on goal and a plus-one rating. Prior to making their AHL: debuts, Barlow, who was reassigned by Winnipeg from Owen Sound (OHL) to Manitoba, posted 58 points (40G, 18A) in 50 games this season. The winger holds 184 points (116G, 68A) in 168 career OHL contests. Anhorn, who joined the team on an amateur tryout, recorded 33 points (6G, 27A) in 38 games this season for the NCAA’s St. Cloud State University. The Calgary, Alta. product registered 94 points (24G, 70A) in 127 career NCAA contests split between Union College and St. Cloud State.

Ville Heinola  notched a goal Sunday. The defenceman has tallied 22 points (9G, 13A) in 38 games and has registered six points (3G, 3A) over his past 10 games. The Honkajoki, Finland product is closing in on 100 career AHL points, producing 97 points (22G, 75A) in 149 games with Manitoba, which places him eighth on the Moose all-time defenders list.
