Fast Facts: Moose at Texas – April 19

The Manitoba Moose and Texas Stars play the first game of a playoff preview this evening (7 p.m. CT). The two teams square off in a pair of contests to wrap up the regular season. Manitoba is coming off a 6-4 loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday. Parker Ford (2G) and Brad Lambert (2A) each had multi-point efforts. Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets recalled forwards Brad Lambert, Nikita Chibrikov and Parker Ford as well as goaltender Collin Delia from the Manitoba Moose.  Lambert and Chibrikov, both Winnipeg draft picks, went on to make their NHL debuts against the Vancouver Canucks. Lambert leads the Moose with 54 points (20G, 34A) in 63 games this season. The Lahti, Finland product tallied his first career AHL point on an assist in the first period. Chibrikov is fourth on the Moose with 46 points (17G, 29A) in 69 games. The Moscow, Russia native scored his first NHL goal for the game-winning tally in the third period. Ford has posted 39 points (17G, 22A) in 70 games this season. Delia has appeared in 32 contests for the Moose this season and has produced a record of 11-19-1 alongside a 3.55 goals-against average and a .872 save percentage. The trio of forwards, Lambert, Chibrikov and Ford, were reassigned to the Moose today.

All-Star Nod

Kyle Capobianco was named a member of the 2023-24 AHL First All-Star Team. Capobianco is second on the Moose and paces all AHL defencemen with 52 points (12G, 40A) in 68 games this season. He is just the third defender in Moose history to clear 50 points in a season. Capobianco was the first AHL defenceman to record 40 assists this campaign and just the second Moose blueliner ever to hit the mark in a season. The Mississauga, Ont. product holds a plus-29 rating which is tied for fourth in the AHL and currently tied for the best mark all-time by a Moose skater.

Super Rookie

Brad Lambert was named a member of the 2023-24 AHL All-Rookie Team earlier this week. The Lahti, Finland native  is the seventh player in franchise history named to the AHL All-Rookie Team, with the most recent being current Winnipeg Jets forward Mason Appleton. Lambert, who leads the Moose in scoring with 54 points (20G, 34A) in 63 games, is also one of nine rookies in Moose history to score 20 goals in a single season. The forward was named the AHL’s Rookie of the Month for March and also participated in the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic.

100 in the Books

Dawson Barteaux suited up in his 100th career AHL contest on Wednesday in Milwaukee. Barteaux made his AHL debut  as a member of the Texas Stars back on Feb. 5/21 against Iowa. Since then, the defenceman has recorded 22 points (7G, 15A) and 18 penalty minutes in his first 100 AHL contests. The Foxwarren, Man. native has 17 points (5G, 12A) in 43 games along with a career-high 44 shots. Barteaux has set new career-high marks in games played, goals, assists, points and game-winning tallies this season with Manitoba.

Who's Trending?

Henri Nikkanen scored a goal against Milwaukee on Wednesday. The centreman now has points in two straight games with two points (1G, 1A) in that span. The Mikkeli, Finland product has tallied 12 points (7G, 5A) in 55 games and has set a new career-high mark in goals over the campaign. Nikkanen has recorded 28 points (12G, 16A) in 125 contests with Manitoba.
