The Manitoba Moose conclude their five-game road trip tonight (7 p.m. CT) against the Rockford IceHogs. The Moose are coming off a 5-2 loss in Milwaukee last night while the IceHogs dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Grand Rapids. Manitoba scored 5-3 and 4-1 wins over Rockford earlier in the road swing. Coverage of tonight's 7 p.m. CT game begins at 6:45 p.m. on CJOB.com/sports, the Winnipeg Jets App and AHLTV.

All-Star Nod

Kyle Capobianco was added to the Central Division roster for the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic yesterday. Capobianco leads the Moose in scoring with 32 points (7G, 25A) in 38 games this season. His 0.84 points per game average and 25 assists also pace the club. The Mississauga, Ont. product currently stands in a three-way tie for the second most points this season by an AHL defenceman. Capobianco has produced six multi-point efforts over the 2023-24 campaign. The blueliner has registered at least three points in four of those six contests, and has one four-point outing to his name. This is the defender’s fourth career AHL All-Star nod. He has been an All-Star every season he has been eligible to participate. Capobianco has 144 points (28G, 116A) in 193 career AHL games.

Jones Knows

Nicholas Jones converted a shorthanded goal in yesterday’s contest in Milwaukee. The shorthanded tally is the forward’s fourth of his AHL career, all of which have been scored in a Moose uniform. When Jones is able to find the back of net while Manitoba is on the penalty kill, the Moose have a 3-1-0-0 record. Jones has produced 10 points (4G, 6A) in 27 games this season and is the 11th Manitoba skater this campaign to break the double-digit point plateau. The Edmonton, Alta. product is closing in on 100 career AHL points, registering 94 points (32G, 62A) in 263 games split between Hartford and Manitoba.

Roster Moves

The Moose assigned forward Thomas Caron to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals today. Caron, 23, has two goals in eight contests with Manitoba this season. The forward has also recorded 14 points (5G, 9A) through 29 games with Norfolk. The Candiac, Que. product has appeared in 55 career AHL games, all with Manitoba, while tallying 10 points (5G, 5A).

Two-for-One Special

Nicholas Jones and Kristian Reichel scored their shorthanded goals just 24 seconds apart in the second period last night. The quick strike set a new franchise record for the Moose, surpassing a 27-year-old mark set during the team’s inaugural season in Winnipeg. The previous record was held by Ross Romaniuk and Randy Ghilen, who scored 49 seconds apart on Dec. 10/96. Jones and Reichel’s goals marked the second time this season the Moose scored two shorthanded goals in a game after Reichel and Kyle Capobianco scored on the penalty kill, Dec. 23 in Iowa. The Moose penalty kill has yet to allow a goal on the current road trip, turning aside all 10 power play opportunities against in four games.

Who's Trending?

Kristian Reichel scored a shorthanded goal in Manitoba’s loss in Milwaukee. The tally was the forward’s second shorthanded strike of the campaign, which paces the Moose. Reichel has scored at least two shorthanded tallies in each of his past three seasons. The pivot is up to 13 points (8G, 5A) through 39 games this season and is shooting at a 10.4 percent clip.
