Fresh off of splitting a four-game series against the Laval Rocket, the Manitoba Moose cross over into Ontario for the second half of an eight-game road trip. The Moose take on the Toronto Marlies tonight in the first of two games. The clubs split a four-game series at Bell MTS Place to open the season. Tune into the action on cjob.com/sports, MooseHockey.com/LISTENLIVE or watch with a subscription to AHLTV. Coverage begins at 5:45 p.m. CT with puck drop slated for just after 6 p.m. CT.

Leadership Role

With Kristian Reichel out of the lineup on Saturday afternoon, Tyler Graovac was designated an alternate captain by the Moose. He joined Jimmy Oligny as the other “A” on the ice. Graovac is tied for the Moose scoring lead with nine points (2G, 7A) in eight games. He also leads the club with a plus-11 rating. The Brampton, Ont. product was loaned to the Moose by the Vancouver Canucks ahead of the season starting.

Case of the Mondays

Tonight’s matchup is the third game the Moose will play on a Monday night. Manitoba plays six times on the first day of the week this season. The last time the Moose and Marlies met on a Monday saw Toronto come away with a 3-2 victory. The Moose evened up their Monday record with a 3-2 win of their own against Laval last week. Ville Heinola (2G) and Cole Perfetti (1G, 1A) lead the Moose with two points each recorded in Monday games. Moose goaltender Mikhail Berdin holds a .934 save percentage and a 2.51 goals-against average in the two games.

Welcome to the A

Two Moose made their AHL debuts on Saturday afternoon in Laval. Goaltender Arturs Silovs turned aside 23 of the 25 shots he faced in his first professional action in North America. The Latvian netminder was a sixth round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in the 2019 NHL Draft. Forward Brett Davis also made his professional debut. He tallied one shot on goal in his first AHL action. Davis was also a sixth round selection, but of the Dallas Stars in 2017.

The Road Warrior

The Moose are through four games of their eight-game road trip. The opened set in Laval saw Nathan Todd emerge as the club’s scoring leader in hostile territory. Todd has points in all four games, totalling six points (2G, 4A) on the swing so far. He also leads the club with nine shots on goal and ranks second with a plus-three rating.
