The Manitoba Moose conclude their seven-game road swing this afternoon with a rematch against the Chicago Wolves. Manitoba scored a 6-1 victory over Chicago yesterday. The win was powered by a four-goal first period for the Moose. The antlered ones improved to 2-2-2-0 on their road swing heading into today's finale. Jeff Malott recorded a pair of points (1G, 1A) in yesterday’s win over Chicago. The goal was Malott’s 20th of the campaign, making him the first Moose skater this season to hit the plateau. The Waterdown, Ont. product has now recorded 20 or more goals in consecutive seasons. In addition, Malott’s goal was his ninth on the power play, placing him one away from his career-high of 10 he achieved in 2021-22. The winger, who re-signed a two-year contract with Winnipeg in 2022, has eight points (3G, 5A) over his past 10 games and 96 career points (57G, 39A) in 154 AHL contests.

The Big 100

Ville Heinola’s next appearance will be the 100th of his AHL career. Through 99 AHL contests, the 2019 Winnipeg Jets first round pick has registered 66 points (12G, 54A), a plus-31 rating, seven power play markers and one game-winning tally. This season, the Honkajoki, Finland product has notched 28 points (3G, 25A) over the course of 36 games. Heinola’s 25 assists is a new career-high and the defender paces the Moose with a plus-22 rating. He also notched his first career shorthanded tally.

Career High Numbers

Manitoba’s victory over Chicago saw multiple players achieve new career-highs. Three forwards reached new career highs in the goal column. Greg Meireles scored his sixth goal of the season, Jansen Harkins tallied his 16th of the campaign and Dominic Toninato notched his 15th marker. Meireles claimed his second game-winning goal of the season, also a new career high. On the defensive side of the puck, Simon Lundmark counted a pair of assists, moving the Stockholm, Sweden product to a new career-high of 15 points (2G, 13A).

Double the Fun

Yesterday saw the Moose win 6-1 and the Winnipeg Jets capture a 3-2 overtime victory. It marked the ninth time this season both teams won on the same day. The organization has had both teams in action 25 times this season. On days when only one of the teams picked up wins, the Jets claimed seven wins and the Moose have six. The organization suffered losses in both the NHL and AHL on the same day just three times this season. Overall, the Moose have won 15 times when playing the same day as the Jets, while Winnipeg has 16 wins playing the same day as Manitoba. Both teams are in action again today with the Jets facing off against the St. Louis Blues at 6 p.m. CT.
