By: Manitoba Moose Staff | Published: March 2nd 2024

The Manitoba Moose return to game action today when they host the Texas Stars at 2 p.m. The Moose are coming off a 4-2 win against Calgary, as the team struck four times in the third period. Both teams enter on winning notes as the Stars picked up a pair of wins against the San Diego Gulls this week.

It's ESports Day at Canada Life Centre. The game will feature a NHL24™ Tournament hosted by New Frontier (entries very limited), along with games available on the concourse and one lucky fan will head home with a Playstation 5 console. Tickets are available at MooseHockey.com/TICKETS.

Sensational Swede

Axel Jonsson-Fjallby scored twice in the third period of Manitoba’s win over Calgary. The winger is now up to eight points (5G, 3A) through 18 contests. The Stockholm, Sweden product has six career multi-goal games under his belt and the two-point contest is the second time the forward has achieved the feat as a member of the Moose. The second marker he scored on Saturday turned into the game-winning tally, his first of the season. Jonsson-Fjallby has at least one game-winner in every AHL season he has appeared in and 12 over his career. Jonsson-Fjallby, a former 2016 Washington fifth round selection, has 87 points (48G, 39A) in 174 career games split between Hershey and Manitoba.

Roster Moves

The Winnipeg Jets recalled forward David Gustafsson from his conditioning loan this week. Gustafsson recorded three assists over the span of six games with the Moose, including two helpers in Manitoba’s recent win over Calgary. Meanwhile, Moose recalled Carson Golder and Simon Kubicek from the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals. Golder has appeared in one game for the Moose this season. The forward has
28 points (15G, 13A) and a plus-17 rating through 32 games with Norfolk. Kubicek appeared in three games for the Moose in 2022-23. The defenceman has suited up in 52 games for the Admirals this season, tallying 16 points (4G, 12A) and 120 penalty minutes.

Blue Line Production

Dawson Barteaux scored a goal on Saturday against Calgary. The defenceman, who signed a one-year contract with Manitoba in 2023, has accumulated five points (4G, 1A) over his past 10 contests. When Barteaux finds his way onto the scoresheet this season, the Moose have a record of 3-0-0-1. The Foxwarren, Man. native has set new career-high marks in goals and points. The defender is also one assist shy of setting a new career-high and his 22 games played place him eight away from matching the career-best 30 that he appeared in with Texas during the 2021-22 campaign.

Tender of the Twine

Collin Delia picked up the win on Saturday, turning aside 23 of 25 shots for a .920 save percentage in the contest. In Moose wins this season, Delia holds a 2.15 goals-against average alongside a .915 save percentage. Over his 10 wins, Delia is at his best in the third period and has stopped 60/63 shots, which is good for a .952 save percentage in the final period. The Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. product has appeared in 27 games this season. That represents Delia’s most AHL outings since the 2019-20 campaign when he played a career-high 32 games for the Rockford IceHogs.
