Point Streakin’

Nikita Chibrikov posted an assist on Wednesday against Grand Rapids. The forward is riding a three-game point streak, a feat he has accomplished six times this season, and has posted three points (1G, 2A) in that span. Chibrikov, a 2021 Winnipeg Jets second round selection, has notched 39 points (16G, 23A) in 58 contests. The 39 points rank the winger fifth in Moose scoring, while his 16 goals ties him for third on the squad. The Moscow, Russia product is also tied with fellow prospect Brad Lambert for tops on the Moose with six power play markers. Chibrikov finds himself ranked 11th overall in league rookie scoring.

Scoring Touch

Jeff Malott potted the lone Moose goal in Wednesday’s contest. The winger has notched seven goals over his past 10 games. He is in the midst of a three-game point streak with three points (1G, 2A) over the stretch. The Waterdown, Ont. product is tied for second on the Moose in scoring with 43 points (19G, 24A) in 58 contests. Malott’s 19 goals also place him in a two-way tie for first among antlered skaters. Over the past four seasons, no Moose player has recorded more goals than Malott’s 79. The winger is chasing a Moose franchise milestone. The next goal he scores will place him in a three-way tie with JC Lipon and Lee Goren for fifth on the organization’s all-time leaderboard.

Busy Stretch

The Moose play 14 games during the month of March, which is the most hockey the Moose will see in a single month this season. Through the month the Moose have accumulated a record of 8-2-0-0 and have outscored their opposition by a count of 46-25. Brad Lambert leads the Moose, and the AHL, with 16 points (4G, 12A) in those 10 games. The team is currently in the midst of playing nine games over a span of 16 days. Manitoba is 5-2-0-0 over the first seven games of that run.

Roster Moves

Manitoba announced defenceman Simon Kubicek was reassigned to the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals. Kubicek suited up in one game for the Moose this season and recorded his first AHL point, an assist on March 3 against Texas. The defenceman has appeared in four total games for Manitoba over his AHL career. Kubicek has played 52 games for Norfolk this season, tallying 16 points (4G, 12A) and 120 penalty minutes. Over his ECHL career, Kubicek has produced 30 points (8G, 22A) in 112 games split between Norfolk and the Newfoundland Growlers.
