Fast Facts: Moose at Belleville – March 5

The Manitoba Moose are into the final two games of an eight-game road swing. As the Moose look to snap a four-game losing streak, reinforcements couldn't have come at a better time. Two Additions

The Winnipeg Jets announced on Wednesday that they have reassigned forwards David Gustafsson and Kristian Vesalainen to the Moose. Gustafsson has played four games for the Jets this season. He also played 16 games with Tingsryds AIF (HockeyAllsvenskan) where he recorded 17 points (7G, 10A). The Tingsryd, Sweden product notched seven points (2G, 5A) in 13 games with the Moose in 2019-20. Vesalainen has appeared in eight games with the Jets this season and recorded one assist. The Helsinki, Finland native posted 30 points (12G, 18A) in 60 games with the Moose during the 2019-20 campaign.

Visitors Advantage

The Moose have found success in Belleville’s barn posting a 4-1-1-0 road record against the Senators. During the 2019-20 season, Nathan Todd scored his first career AHL goal in Manitoba’s 2-1 victory against Belleville, Nov. 20/19. In Manitoba’s second contest in Belleville’s home arena last season, the Moose dropped a 5-4 overtime decision however Kristian Reichel recorded his first AHL career multi-goal game (2G) and C.J. Suess marked a new AHL career high with three assists. This is only the fourth season the clubs are facing off against each other. Manitoba has marked a 6-3-2-1 record in 12 total games against the Senators.

On the Board

During Manitoba’s loss against the Marlies on Wednesday night, Hayden Shaw opened up the scoring for the Moose marking his first career AHL goal. The Woodbury, Minn. product has appeared in three games for the Moose this season and posted two points (1G, 1A). Also during Manitoba’s Wednesday night tilt against Toronto, Declan Chisholm recorded his first career AHL assist. The defenceman has recorded three points (2G, 1A) in 10 games for the Moose this season.

First of the Season

C.J. Suess recorded his first goal of the 2020-21 season on Wednesday night at Toronto. The centreman has posted three points (1G, 2A) in 10 games for the Moose this season. Suess was selected to serve as an alternate captain during his third season with the Moose. The Forest Lake, Minn. product has recorded 44 points (24G, 20A) and comes into tonight’s game with 99 career AHL games played.
