Stay Hot, Jeff

Jeff Malott recorded his first professional hat-trick in Wednesday’s road victory in Milwaukee. It was the first Moose hat-trick since April 30/22.  The forward has tallied three-point outings in consecutive contests and owns five over his AHL career. The Waterdown, Ont. product is in the midst of a three-game point streak and has produced seven points (4G, 3A) in that span. Malott now ranks second on the Moose with 37 points (16G, 21A) in 51 games. The winger has scored 76 career goals in a Moose uniform, which jumps him over Greg Pankewicz and places him into sole possession of sixth on the franchise leaderboard. It also places Malott in the top-10 of all AHL skaters since he joined the league.

New Heights

Kyle Capobianco notched a pair of assists in Manitoba’s weekday win. The defenceman has now racked up nine multi-point outings and has produced six points (1G, 5A) over his past five contests. The Mississauga, Ont. product has 41 points (8G, 23A) in 50 games and is the first Moose skater this season to break the 40-point plateau. Capobianco already set new career-highs in assists and points is two goals away from matching his career-high set in 2019-20. The defender leads the Moose in scoring and paces the antlered ones with a plus-18 rating. In addition, the former 2015 Arizona third round selection ranks second among all AHL defencemen in points this season.

Rookie Production

Brad Lambert put together a trio of points (1G, 2A) in Manitoba’s most recent contest. It’s the first time the 2022 Winnipeg Jets first round selection notched three-points in the AHL. The Lahti, Finland native is skating through a three-game point streak, the second longest of his Moose career, and has tallied five points (2G, 3A) over the span. The centre has 36 points (17G, 19A) in 46 games and leads the Moose in both even strength and power play goals. Lambert paces all Manitoba rookies in scoring and is tied for eighth among all AHL first-year players.

Piece of History

Ville Heinola posted an assist in Manitoba’s win in Milwaukee. The assist pushed the defenceman to 85 career points (16G, 69A) in 132 games. That moves Heinola into a tie with Cameron Schilling for ninth all-time among the franchise’s defencemen. It also brought Winnipeg’s 2019 first round selection to 10 points (3G, 7A) in 21 games this season. Heinola has reached double-digits every season since 2020-21. The Honkajoki, Finland product has three assists over his past five contests and has multiple shots on goal in six straight outings.
