Game Recap: Chicago 2 at Moose 3

Goal Summary

Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (24-21-3-2)  claimed their fourth straight victory, a 3-2 win over the Chicago Wolves (27-17-5-1) on Friday night at Bell MTS Place.  The visiting Wolves got on the board first as T.J. Tynan scored off the rush by finishing a quick passing play through the middle of the ice.  Manitoba nearly tied the game moments later, but Kristian Reichel's one-timer from the right circle rang off the post.  The Moose made more music late in the frame as Michael Spacek got into some open ice and fired a shot over Oscar Dansk's shoulder, but it rattled off the corner post and out.  Eric Comrie made 12 saves to help the Moose keep in striking distance, trailing 1-0 after one.

Manitoba broke onto the scoreboard with a power play goal 8:39 into the second.  Seth Griffith found a seam to move the puck over to Spacek who sniped his eighth of the season and tied the contest 1-1.  The Wolves went on the attack in short order, but Comrie and the Moose penalty kill held the game even.  The home side pushed in front with 2:20 left in the frame when JC Lipon drove to the front of the net and set up Cam Maclise to knock the puck into the goal.  The Moose carried the 2-1 lead into the third period.

The Moose made it a two-goal difference at the 8:26 mark of the third.  Jimmy Oligny pushed the puck through the slot to Logan Shaw who slid a behind-the-back pass to Griffith for a tap-in and a 3-1 lead.  After Manitoba held the Wolves at bay through most of the period, Chicago got the offence rolling late in the third.  Comrie weathered the barrage until Daniel Carr found space in front of the net and pulled the Wolves within one with 1:09 to go.  Chicago kept up the pressure, but Manitoba held on for the 3-2 victory, its fourth straight.
