Game Story
The Manitoba Moose (17-20-3-2) entered the final games of their road swing with a matchup against the Charlotte Checkers (19-21-3-0) on Friday night.  It only took 20 seconds for Charlotte to break the ice when Jake Chelios set up Andrej Nestrasil for a backdoor goal on a two-on-one.  That would be the only puck to get past Eric Comrie who made nine stops in the period.  After being outshot 8-1 early, Manitoba closed the gap to 10-8 Checkers on the shot clock after one.

It took until after the midway point of the second to see another goal on the board.  Mitchell Heard got the puck on net off the rush and Kris Newbury was on the scene to roof his sixth of the season for a 2-0 Charlotte lead.  The Moose had a pair of powerplay opportunities in the frame, but couldn’t take advantage.  Eddie Lack was sharp through 40 minutes, having turned aside all 17 shots he faced to keep the Checkers ahead by a pair.

Charlotte made it 3-0 just 1:09 into the final stanza as Lucas Wallmark got a little room in the slot and fired a shot by Comrie.  JC Lipon got the Moose on the board coming up on the six minute mark of the period.  The Manitoba forward launched a shot off the glove of Lack which popped into the air.  Lipon swooped around the net to grab the rebound and backhand it into the goal.  The Moose pushed late, but couldn’t cut into the Charlotte lead.  Wallmark added his second of the period into an empty net for the 4-1 final score
